Who among us doesn’t experience some stress in our daily lives? The most common definition of stress is “a condition or feeling experienced when a person perceives that demands exceed the personal and social resources the individual is able to mobilize.” In short, we feel stressed when we feel like we had lost control of events.
Stress is an inevitable part of life and living. At some point, we all encounter situations that agitate or frustrate us. The question is how you will handle it. Will you sit around waiting for that magical day when everything in your life simply falls into place? Good Luck!
Our best option is to find ways to effectively cope with our stress. Coping can mean minimizing the source of the problem, elimination of the problem all together or more likely, finding new ways to deal with the ongoing problem of stress.
My job is to help you understand and deal with those things in your life that cause you stress. In other words, I can help you by:
- Indentifying stressors
- Teaching you resources for coping with stress
- Teaching you the relationship between stress, coping with stress and your overall satisfaction with your job and your life.
- Teaching you the four keys to coping with stress: Problem Solving, Communication, Closeness and Flexibility.
Managing stress is all about taking charge: taking charge of your thoughts, your emotions, your schedule, your environment, and the way you deal with problems. The ultimate goal is a balanced life, with time for work, relationships, relaxation, and fun – plus the resilience to hold up under pressure and meet challenges head on.
