I would like to know what makes you HAPPY or Unhappy at work?
If you are Happy, Why? What about your job makes you happy?
If you are Unhappy, Why? What about your job makes you unhappy?
Please send me your answers or post your replies and I will put together a list and maybe we can find some common ground and some solutions!

What makes me happy at work is to feel appreciated for the work done. To be able to see the fruits of your labor, especially as it pertains to people development. The opposite makes me unhappy. When a company looks at their people as a replaceable commodity with little or no value.
What makes me happy at work is seeing a satisfying result and having that result appreciated by others. The feeling of accomplishment. Having the respect of your peers and other co-workers. Working together to accomplish a common goal.
What makes me unhappy would be people that use others to uplift themselves without giving anyone else any recognition or appreciating what they have contributed to the organization. A lack of respect.
One more thing that makes me unhappy at work is the feeling that I’ve let my peers or co-workers down when something doesn’t go right.
Workplace happiness comes from feeling my ideas are welcomed, and that I can respectfully and privately discuss with my boss a decision with which I disagree.
Unhappiness at work? I once worked in a company where the executives were held to lesser standards of conduct than the rank and file. The COO could scream at, spit on (Yes! Literally!), discriminate against and have affairs with employees–all actions that would have gotten the line employees fired. It’s hard to feel appreciated when the execs believe they’re somehow better than their employees.
What makes me happy at my job is that I have the ability to be creative, think outside the box and run with my ideas. There is nothing worse than coming up with ideas, suggestions – whatever it may be – to not be given the chance to share because the individuals you work with either don’t listen or feel whatever they come up with is the way to go and don’t take the time to listen to others. In past jobs, that has made me very unhappy.
Respect for your ideas, even if they are different than the boss’ ideas.
Knowing that you are really being heard.
True and honest feedback.
That’s what makes me happy at my job.
